Our Summer School offers a unique opportunity to explore the field of mental health and therapy. Participants will gain insights into the role of Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWPs), who specialize in supporting individuals with common mental health issues like anxiety disorders and depression on their journey to recovery.

 

Through interactive sessions, attendees will meet mental health experts in various roles, gaining valuable insights into potential career paths and practicalities of entering the field. Networking opportunities will abound, allowing participants to connect with like-minded peers and professionals, fostering connections beneficial for future endeavours.

 

By attending, participants will not only deepen their understanding of therapy but also gain a head start on their career aspirations, with the added bonus of receiving a certificate of attendance to enhance their CVs.

Who this Summer School is for

Undergraduate Psychology students in their 2nd and 3rd/final year, and recent graduates from the following universities:
  • UCL
  • UEL
  • City
  • South Bank
  • Kings College London
  • Queen Mary

School leavers/college students (16+) from Havering, Barking & Dagenham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest in the following courses:

  • Health and social care
  • Counselling
  • Adult social care
  • Any other care/counselling/social work/psychology related courses

  • Overview of NHS Talking Therapies and the stepped care model
  • What therapy looks like across the different steps in talking therapies
  • Career pathways, skills needed and how to get into this role
  • Role of service users
  • Partnership working with other services and UCL course representative to discuss the academic side of training
